TOPIC: 3 prong plants

Hey guys so as I mentioned before I found my first ginseng ever this weekend. My question is concerning 3 prong plants there legal to dig here in VA but I noticed some had a much better root than others. How do you guys determine weather or not to dig a 3 prong. Sorry if it's a dumb question.

sometimes u cant but if the stock is as big as a pencil or bigger its a good root. I always dig down easy n c how the grow ring looks, how thick is it n how long. Maya posted a pic in another post it had a smaller plant with a 4 oz root on it. it dont hurt to check. Good luck
