Pennsylvania will be opening on September 1st this year as well. The USFWS has been encouraging all states to move to the September 1 start date for the past few years. I think that they are all there now for the most part. A lot of the seeds don't ripen up around here until late August any way, of course there are exceptions from state to state.
Poachers will poach not matter what the season is. Spoke with a wild-simulated grower yesterday who was hit in July. I know that this is about the 5th year in a row that he has been hit. Each year he goes out earlier and earlier to top the plants to hide them from the poachers (sacrificing seed production), and every year they come earlier and earlier and dig the plants.
