TOPIC: Garden stuff, BlackBerries and seed bed on this July 4th Holiday

Garden stuff, BlackBerries and seed bed on this July 4th Holiday 11 years 4 months ago #23120

Hope you all are having a good 4th of July.

We grilled pork chops this evening and had potatoes and tomatoes (from the garden) for dinner.

Yum !

I got out yesterday morning and picked a full gallon of blackberries.

Only about 1/4 of what was no the canes were ripe yet, and mostly toward the cane tips. Lots of big red berries on that will ripen in a few more days. We got some rain today too which will ensure a extra good crop of berries this year. My wife is making some blackberry jam now.

A lot of stuff comming in right now.

A few pics below.

Now look at these bueaties...

It's just hard to beat a fresh juicy peach ! We have ate a few of these and plan to pick the majority in another day or two and put up some as jam, make a peach cobler, etc..

These are Early Elberta and they come in about 2 weeks before my Reliance does. About the time these play out, my Reliance tree kicks in.

Yum Yum !

Some fine sweets you have there. I plan to pick a couple gallon of blackberries today. I also plan to probably scratch until Sunday but you know how that goes.

Hill..

I wore my tall rubber boots, folded my pant legs around and pulled boots up over them.

Sprayed the top of my boots and pant legs and waist area with some 40% deet Repel..

Got thousands of blackberries and only 2-3 chiggars.

Thats a fair trade in my book :-)

Tried rubbing Orange Jewelweed stalk on briar and nettle scratches this weekend , worked great. The hills loaded with it , rains every other day here. My sister tried it on a deer fly bite and it worked there too. Happy scratching

Looks good there TNhunter! Won't be picking blackberries for a while yet here. Just picked my first mess of Green Beans yesterday. We have had so much rain here that my tomatoes are way behind. They look good since I got to Actinovate them! Don't have many tomatoes yet though. Loaded with bloom. I'm thinking the rain is keeping the bees from being able to polinate them. I may get a small paintbrush and try to polinate myself! Good looking pictures you have! Good eating!!! Enjoy!
