Hunter,
Last April you posted pics of your woods. Interesting woods indeed. Whitjr even commented it look like something out of the lord of the rings. Are you going to put any slug bait down this year or just let mother nature do her thing. I too have a spot where the \"Cleavers\" weed grows as you stated as thick as hair on a cats back. I pull a lot of it up by hand. It comes up real easy.
Just depends on how much time and effort one wants to put into it as it can cover an acre. Stuff is like velcro too. That's how you know it is Cleavers and not some other weed.
You can feel the velcro like texture on your hand. Cleavers is also edible. Some eat it in salads or put it in soup as a thickener. Anyway enough with cleavers.
Good luck with your ginseng and bloodroot etc I pasted my post to you from last year below. I remembered all your pics that you posted under the post \"Starting to Pop Up\"

Hunter,
Nice pics and wild plants. Looks like you are getting some slug damage on your ginseng. You might want to consider using some \"Deadline\" slug pellets around your ginseng. Also that stringy ground plant could also be \"Cleavers\". Pull a handful out and if it has a Velcro like sticky feel to it then it is cleavers weed. Weather it is chick weed or cleavers weed I would try to remove it by hand or with a spray prior to the seng coming up next year.
I would say the slug damage is more threatening than the thick weedy ground cover thou.
Good luck Hunter.
