TOPIC: Talking a little trash

Talking a little trash 11 years 9 months ago #22065

Billy,
Since we have spare time right now I thought I would mention a movie that I watched to day and see if you have seen it, or otherwise know about it. I think it's a true story. It's sure a lot more serious than ginseng, but it does show some good Southern Kentucky scenery and really relates what was happening in the vicinty of Cumberland Gap almost 150 years ago. There is a good panoramic view that looks like the Clinch Mountain Gap or Cumberland Gap in the distance. The movie is Pharaoh's Army and it sure shows what a rough time the people in Kentucky and East Tennessee had during the Civil War. You'll be able to relate to most of it and the location it was shot in is right at home. I hope you get to see it.

Been busy running a small hobby trap line after work, and havent found time to get on here for a while...

Hope everyone is doing fine :)

Billy, I'm sure you will recieve many blessings no matter what God's will is for your future. Keep us posted. If you do end up buying the property give me a call. I will volunteer to help you get some ginseng planted on that hillside. I guess TNhunter should probably get first dibs if you are looking for volunteers (being from the volunteer state and all) I know we've got a few others from TN - don't want to leave all you volunteers out;) :P

Jeff,
I think this old Volunteer would enjoy doing that. I always learn from seeing other peoples methods and maybe placing my little effort in the mix.

Not too trashy the above... if you wanted to talk trashy, you could've got 'way more excited!

I havn't seen that movie you posted about either. What year was it made in?

I saw the movie \"Lincoln\" a couple of weeks ago. Pretty good, really. A different perspective about Lincoln than I've ever seen before.

Good evening Whitjr,
Haven't seen you in a few days. Hope everything is going okay. I guess I should have
said \"Talking about something a little different\". The movie was made in 1995 and I had not seen it until recently. I have watched it 2-3 times and I have decided that it is probably some of the best acting that I have seen. I figured that Billy would be interested in it since it took place not too far from Middlesboro, Ky. It really showed some good ginseng growing country and the theme of the movie was very serious. Whoever put the movie together really did a fantastic job of getting all the buildings, farming equipment, plowing methods, and language, and history in the time sequence that the story unfolded in. It's a movie that I would recommend watching more than once. I have an AT&T package and that is how I came to see it. If you get a chance to watch it, settle in and go back in time for 150 years and see what it must have been like to grow up in a really rough time.
I give this one two thumbs up.

Since we're on the topic of Middlesboro and Billy's neck of the woods, I received some news last week. My son's mother and step dad are moving from Georgia to Middlesboro KY. It looks like I will becoming familiar with your area before long, Billy.
