TOPIC: Good to see you back

Good to see you back 11 years 11 months ago #21703

Maya,
I don't want to crash in on the Deer Hunting thread so I've started a new one to welcome you back. I had to get my wife, the nurse, to translate some of those medical terms. It sure sounds like you had a close one.:( I hope your recovery is a speedy one and that you have dreams of huge ginseng roots while your resting and piecing it all back together. We've missed you and I'm glad that your still with us.

Hugh

Thanks guys, I'm much better but still have a ways to go. Dr says the liver will take 6-9 months to get back to normal, however there are a couple of \"abnormalities\" that they are going to keep an eye on, on my liver and adrenal gland. Ribs still hurt, especially when I sneeze!!

Whitjr, what do you do for work? Thanks for the advise in advanced, I always seem to have lots of questions! My Dr is very good at explaining everything for me though.

Watch those dang climbers guys, and use your safety straps all the way up and down the tree!:S

Oh gotcha! Have to go for another x-ray tomorrow to check my lungs out. Dr's are checking the progress with the pnemothorax and pneumonia. My lungs feel good to me, I got out for a half hour walk today and worked in my orchard for another half hour, felt great. Now my ribs and liver, that's another story. Will they ever heal?? I know, they take a while, but I'm getting real sick of hanging around the house. Dr. will not sign off on me going back to work for at least 2 more weeks!

I do have to go back for cat scans in two months. There are a couple \"abnormalities\" on liver and an adrenal gland they want to keep an eye on....I don't like the sounds of that!

Thanks for the offer to help. If I have a ?, I'll holler!

Been doing the RT thing for 34 years. BTW- good luck to you son, this RT thing can be a great career.

Ribs are notoriously long sometimes to recover. You broke several of them? There are things you can do when you feel a cough coming on or a sneeze... Splint the injured area with a pillow [hold it against your injured area firmly] or even your forearm/elbow, then cough.

A great Dr Question: What is the big concern about the liver? Size/Area of contusion?

It's a great thing that you are able to breathe well enough to exercise by walking.

Good luck on your continued recovery.

Maya,

Being a somewhat newcomer, I really don't know you yet but have read all of the accolades from others about you, the Ginseng you dig and the care you take in doing so. I perused the Wildgrown website for many years and never realized that they had a Ginseng Forum until this fall. I really hope you get better soon and hope that the abnormalities on your' liver and adrenal gland turn out to be nothing to worry about! Could it be just bruising from the fall??!!
