TOPIC: snow for monday

I'm in sw pa. They are calling for up to 6 inches of snow for Monday. I have found a few sang plants up already. This weather has just been crazy. I just hope the sang that's up pulls through this ok.

I am no expert, but wild plants do fairly well with snow at 32 degrees. It's the frost at sub 32 degrees that's harder on them. IMHO I do not think the snow will hurt them. Now if it's a wet snow and a lot of it, there would be a chance it could snap the stalk but I doubt it.

We've gone through that on a couple of nights about a week ago and I saw temperatures all the way down into the mid 20s. There was a lot of damage to surrounding plants, but the sang seemed to come right on through it. It's the weight of that wet snow, like Latt mentioned, that might make a difference. It's going to be close to freezing right here in East Tennessee tonight so I wish everyone good luck through this late cold snap.

It looks like everyone got through today without snow as far as I know. When I was listening to the weather report that was the thought in my head too, the weight of the wet snow on the tree limbs (with leaves) and my shade cloth!

We got some real heavy snow last nite here in pa. Alout of power outages from falling branches. I just hope my seedlings made through ok. I think they will be ok. Most were not up yet anyway.

No snow here in NC where I live, however I did have frost on my cars this am. Up in the mountains where I have a patch, not too sure what's happenned there.
