TOPIC: Sore feet and a heavy seng bag (47.4 oz today).

Sore feet and a heavy seng bag (47.4 oz today). 13 years 6 months ago #4965

Hey Guys.

I took a day off work today and me and my partner went seng digging again.

We went back to a place we hunted two years ago and had decent luck then. We left a lot of small seng and planted a lot of berries then.

Today we visited 3 different main hollows and walked out a bunch of side hollows. Covered a lot of ground and man I have sore feet right now.

We did not find any real big seng but did find quite a bit. One 4 pronger, and not sure how many hundred 3 prongers (some nice ones).

We planted several hundred berries today and left a bunch of small seng to hunt another day.

It shows 54.3 oz on the scale, but the bowl weighed 6.9 oz.

47.4 oz of green seng. Not a bad day.

I am already starting to have those (after the hunt) seng vision flash backs. You know after you have been on a long seng hunt and after you get home and clean up and rest a bit, every time you blink your eyes or turn your head to look at something you see a 3 prong :-)

It usually goes away by the next day.

Here is a pic of that big wad of seng we collected !

TNhunter thats a really nice day. Days like that are hard to come by around here but im hoping for at least a pound wednesday.Theres a lot of people around here that digs 2 prongs and that really hurts the ginseng population after a few years of that. I always pinch the stems off of the little ones and hope for the best.Went digging yellow root today and seen where someone had been digging ginseng already.

New York Ginseng 13 years 6 months ago #5025

Just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about ginseng in New York? I will be heading back to WV on 9/24 to do a little ginsenging. I am going to check out some woods in Cherry Valley, New York (Otsego County) on Saturday. I haven't run into anybody that knows much about it. Any information would be helpful!

Thanks!
