TOPIC: HAVE YALL SEEN ONE OF THESE ????

went out yesterday and dug 89 roots .... mostly in a logged woods that has grown over ... i found a large 4 prong with a few large 3 prongs clustered right below it ... as i was digging i was pulling back the underbrush to find the stems bases and brushed my arm against something ... it lit me up ... at first i thought a wasp, or bee had gotten me ... but then my arm started to throb BAD ... and pain was intense ... i looked for a stinger but there was none ... then my arm started to swell and the pain got worse ... so i started to look to see what had gotten me ... this lil fella was on a weed ... i dont believe ive ever seen one before ... i know they can put a hurtin on ya tho ... lol .... so anyone know what type it is ??

I call it and have heard it called a pack saddler here in KY, it gets on corn quite a bit, I have been stung a few times myself.

Where I'm from (WNC) we call that Pack Saddle.

Here in Ohio that is called a Saddleback Catapillar. The worst sting that can come from any of them-How do I know? Well my son got the awfulist sting from one a few weeks ago. Had a bad reaction to it too. Had to take him to the ER.
They say they are around corn mostly.
