Check out Litmus Paper. I have used it before for various tests. It is strips of paper that changes color to indicate ph and then you can match it up to a color scale. It's not as accurate as a soil test but you can determine the ph within five tenths fairly easily. I think it runs about ten bucks and a roll will last forever it seems.

Thanks guys. I had my soil tested and the results came back good. I will post the results when I get the print out. As far as vinegar and baking soda it is interesting but only gives a general idea of the PH if it works at all. I just thought it might be helpful if it really works to get a general idea of the soil PH
