TOPIC: Winter Root

Winter Root 8 years 10 months ago #38026

While prepping the new planting area today I thought I would wander over to my older plantings. There are still plenty of stalks standing so I thought I would have a look.

Hill now that is a fine looking chunk of a root.

It reminds me of a creek bluff hunt I did back in 2010 on my birthday.

I found several really nice wild seng plants growing part way up a creek bluff on a flat.

They were all nice chunkey / bulby roots. See pic below...

All of those big chunky roots came off that creek bluff... they were short and stout, nice a bulby... and had short necks too.

Looked like they were all around 5-8 years old.

They are the ones below and to the left of that 20.00 bill.

The 4 roots to the right of that 20.00 bill.. I found on a north facing hillside in the regular woods before I got to that east facing creek bluff.

Those 4 smaller roots all had long necks 20+ years old... but were much smaller.

Good example of how much difference the location, soil type, and light conditions make in the root and top growth.

Looks like your location is darn near ideal to me, based on the size or your tops and roots.

Your root there even though it has a rather short neck... still looks almost identical to those wild bluff roots I dug back then.

Congratulations on a job well done with your wild sim.
