TOPIC: My Forest in the Fall

Re:My Forest in the Fall 11 years 3 weeks ago #26435

Hillhopper...

Just now got to check out your video.

That is sure a nice looking hillside you have there.

I think the spot you are going to plant this fall/winter looks especially good, lots of rock showing up there.

You sure do have a lot of nice 3 prongs in your 3 year old stuff and like you said will probably be a lot of 4's there next spring.

I can tell that yours are doing a lot better than mine are but I was not expecting mine here close to home to do all that great because the wild stuff I find her is usually smallish - it just does not get all that big here no matter how old.

You got some nice looking roots developing there too on those 3 year olds you showed.

Question... when do you plan to start harvesting a few ?

They way your 3 year olds are looking now... in another 3 years I'd say you are going to have some that would do well if offered for sale.

I know you have worked hard to get where you are now - congradulations on a job well done !

Thanks my friend, I appreciate that.

Im kinda of the same opinion as you on the roots. I believe in another few years Im going to try and dig some and see what happens. If it works out good , then maybe dig the whole planting the next year. At that point that would put each planting at a seven year turn around, IF they all grow that well.

There were a few 4's in it this year but I guess they were to appetizing for the deer. They were gone in about a month.
