TOPIC: Grower's and Digger's Association

Grower's and Digger's Association 11 years 1 month ago #25013

Hey everyone.

I've been talking to some folks and thinking some of this issue over. I think we have laid a pretty good groundwork in the other thread which ended up discussing this concept.

At this point, we can't go much farther without some type of membership to any future group/organization. I've talked with the folks in Kentucky (KYginseng) and those in charge of the ginseng program in Ohio. Both are willing to discuss issues with us in a manner which will (for now anyway) allow us as growers to remain anonymous.

The Ohio Coordinator has indicated that he agrees that some of our regulations are ripe to be changed and is more than willing to sit down with those of us who will make a trip to Columbus to have a face to face discussion about them. Without a roll call, there would be no names on any Division documentation which would then become subjected to FOI requests at some time in the future. This meeting will tentatively take place in late January or early February of 2014 - only about four months away.

I believe it is therefore imperative that we be able to sit down at that time with some type of membership numbers.

To this end, I'm asking everyone...grower and digger alike...who is interested in becoming part of this organization to send me an email with \"Grower's and Digger's Association\" in the subject line, to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Once I've had a chance to get things together (very busy currently) I'll get back in touch with you via reply email and provide further information.

Thank you.

So, do you think this association will be for all states or just Ohio? I think if all/most states are involved, then it would be more likely to accomplish things. I'm from Kentucky, so I would be interested in what kyjabber has to say. I think some kind of organization would have to benefit the growers and diggers alike. I'm still pretty new on the growing side of things, but I would be willing to put in some time to help where and when I can.

I see no reason that it would not be a national organization but will likely be organized into state chapters because of the specifics of individual work to be done dealing with the regulations in each state.

Thank you Mhowa... get me an email as I mentioned and I'll put you on the list of prospective members.

Thank you to all who have sent emails thus far.

It just occurred to me that I might not have been clear. This prospective member list is absolutely confidential. I will never release it without consent from the individual members.

We are still working on an anonymous membership list and that is the way we intend to keep it.

Hi Brad

This association business must keep you very busy, must be difficult with all the orders from your website that need to be filled.

There really isn't much association business to be dealt with at this point. I make phone calls while driving and answer emails from work often when I can(I still work nights). My seed was delayed a couple weeks, and seeders sold out from the get go, so more have been made and they sold out again. I am pretty well caught up with the exception of a couple seeders that were ordered late and a couple books that need printing.

If would be nice if I could make those things faster by turning a knob on a machine! lol

Brad,

You can count me in on the association and I will send you an email to confirm it! I am not sure what help I would be at this point as I will be busy through the end of the year. I must get my' home in order so that oldest daughter and my 5 grandchildren can move in with me. I still haven't filed my' 2012 Federal Taxes for my' Personal and Business taxes and must do that besides trying to repair vehicles and make some sales.

When my money is gone and I've nothing to show for it I find it hard to lol
My seed order from Wildgrown.com came promptly and has been in the earth for the last month and a half, along with seed from three other suppliers. Only one order missing.
