Rootman...

Just be sure that soon after those berries start setting on... that you start dealing with the rodents.

Remember last year my seed bed plants were loaded with green berries and I did not do anything to take care of the rodents - was not expecting them to eat the berries green, but about the time the first few red berries showed up, some little mouse type critter ate every berry on all my plants within just a few days.

I looked at them one Saturday and they were loaded with green berries and just a few red ones, and then looked at them again the next Saturday and every single berry was gone (except one red berry I found down in the leaves).

So my advice to you would be not too long after the berries start setting on, you need to be putting out something to wipe out the vermin that are no doubt going to be there, watching and waiting for a nice meal of seng berries.

Good Luck buddy !!!

Yes you're right TN,
It doesn't take long for the seed to disappear.
All my plants are loaded with seed this year and we got an inch and 1/2 of much needed rain Sat.
Seen a hawk looking for prey this morning. Hope he hangs with me.

Whitjr...

Yes - 1 week - all were wiped out.

One Saturday - I had 42 plants all with green berries on the pods - and less than a dozen of those were red at that point.

The next Saturday - they all looked like this.

All of the berry pods had been picked clean of berries and they were piles of eaten berries under each seng plant.

Now this year - It's pay back time
