This reminds me for you that transplant roots make sure you pack the ground good around roots to get air out. Water good, which is obvious, but get the air out. The bud should be facing upward also. The last 7 or 8 years I have had maybe 3 or 4 roots that did not come back out of probably 75 or 80. A lot of you know this but someone new may not, all little items add up to success.
I've never planted or transplanted any seng roots, but I have been doing some reading, and that is the first time I have seen that tip about packing the ground good.
All the rootlets I put in last year [300] I did what was suggusted. Packed in well, put in at a 45 degree angle, and not much sticking out a'tall. I had excellent results, and I think all of them came up.
