No doubt the roots are fairly large.

But I don't see
1) The necks to give an indication of the age
2) Visible growth rings to indicate they are wild.

So I would hesitate. I could be wrong, just my own views.

Since the seller is probably selling across state lines, you could always ask to see a copy of some sort of ginseng export certificate. If he has one, it might contain info as to whether its truly wild or not. I'm assuming you are still supposed to go through that official process, even when selling on the Internet. Is that right?

To me the roots in the picture have the cultivated carrot look to them, but I'm new at all this.

I have my doubts as to whether those are wild roots.

They sure don't look like the wild roots I harvest.

That long straight and fairly slick main trunk part of the root sure looks much more like cultivated to me.
