Heard a rumor that a local dealer was brought in 3 pounds of dried root, unidentifiable, but definitely not ginseng. The digger was pretty upset that the dealer didn't want to buy it.

Probably went down something like this:

1 day before ginseng season, new digger watched every episode of Appalachian outlaws twice, comes onto this site, views some outstanding photos of ginseng, reads all about our disgust for poaching, goes out to uncles property without permission,finds said uncles wild-simulated patch, digs for 3 days,all the while digging in front of a game cam. Happy as a pig in poop, Rushes down to local dealer, Braggs of his first time ever hunting ginseng on his uncles property, dealer knows the uncle, sells him seed regularly doesn't say a word, Looks at the bags of sang and says \"Boy i dont know what you dug but it aint sang.\" Digger gets very mad about the whole ordeal argues with the dealer for 5 more minutes, finally gets mad turns around and starts walking out of the scrapyard, slings the bag of sang into the trash-can located at the exit. gets in his dent riddled ford ranger, slinging gravel all over the parking lot as he leaves. Dealer stares dumbfoundedly at the vehicle leaving the lot, walks over to the trash can picks out the bag of sang, walks over to the scales puts the sang on the scales, smiles then puts sang into the barrel. Its just a dog eat dog world.

Everywhere I have hunted the last 3 days has already been dug, seems like there are more people out digging this year.
