TOPIC: No show and tell after first day?

Re:No show and tell after first day? 11 years 2 months ago #23916

A few roots from the morning. I did not take a pic of the afternoon dug ones. This is minus that cluster root if found and replanted.

Looks like goldenseal?

I agree, that does look like goldenseal as I see some golden color there. Possibly blue cohosh because that is the way their roots look.

I am going to go back to it and I will check it out again. I am thinking you must be right. I probably thought it was some kind of strange ginseng as is was all balled up with other plants. It definitely is not goldenseal as the roots were not yellow inside. It must be black cohosh as there is a great deal around although I have never dug it. I have seen the goldenseal root fiber before.
I really should proof my posts especially that late at night.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that's not black cohosh, but either baneberry (doll's eye or white cohosh) or more likely blue cohosh. Look at the tops and look for a small cluster of blue berries on the stem.

I found a couple of 3 prongs growing close together, i thought i had a 2 topper but it wasn't to be . they were seperate and 1 of them didn't appear to have enough growth rings to be legal, but the shape of it was pretty cool, for a little man. He went back into the ground.
