LOL, I know ya'll northern folk get tired of hearing about our early Springs down here. On the other hand, we sure wished we had your Summers about July and August.
I got out yesterday, nothing up yet but the earliest Spring plants. I applied weed killer to the entire plantings (new and old), I had a pretty good amount of Bedstraw weed last year. It's just now peeking through the leaf litter, I aim to be shed of that mess. It doesn't kill ginseng but it sure will cover it up for half the year and weigh it down. I pulled a bunch last year and waited a little too late to do it. Everytime I would grab some, hundreds of seeds would fall and sounded as if a handfull of salt were being pitched out. Im sure there is some still to come that I will miss but this will help alot. I hated to wait any longer and risk hitting some Ginseng with the spray later, with the rain moving in today, it should wash the residue off and put me in the clear.
