About how many roots that size would it take to make a pound?

Bill, one old timer told me \"about enough to fill a regular shoe box\" would make a pound. Keep in mind that older roots, (not necessarily big roots) will be worth more as the age will add value.

That's a good ball park figure. A couple old timmers told me the same thing. Pretty true. Also depends on who you are selling to!

Maya, What state are you in? Here in PA you can get a list of licensed dealers from the DCNR (Dept of conservation and Natural Resources) across the state. Maybe your State would have something similar. That way you can at least shop a little. There is talk of an attempt at starting a ginseng association (not sure if state or national), which might give growers better access to higher buyers on the food chain. Something like that just might be a good thing for growers.

I'm in Vt. They had some buyers at a convention last year. I should have gone. I'll be there this year! I think there is a Vt Ginseng Assoc. I'm going to look into it some more.
