TOPIC: September tops and wispy roots

September tops and wispy roots 8 years 6 months ago #36931

Went out again today and went a little higher up than last time and found some of the prettiest tops I've seen yet. I almost hated to dig some of them. I got into a pretty good patch in one spot, but most of what i've found so far have been loners or doubles. I had to hunt really slow as some berries are gone with only green tops left, really easy to miss them with all the cover.

For some reason I kept finding those really wispy asian looking roots today, lol. No hogs, but I won't complain.

This little guy appears to be really old by it's neck. Any clues to how old it may be?

Very nice pics n roots wild. A old shanger told me one time that for ever inch of grow ring equals 10 yrs roughfully. How true i don't know nor would I argue with one so wise.

Interesting info hobbler, It seems strange that the roots with the really long rhizomes are often small roots. You would think that if it was 30 plus years old it would be a big root. It's a mysterious plant indeed.

wildspirit44,

I'm going to take a stab at the age of the root in a roundhouse way. It looks like 39 plus years old.
