That was an awesome patch indeed. Beautiful tops and roots too.

Back in 2008 me and my nephew walked into a hollow and in about 5 hours came out with 6 lbs 3 oz of root. That is as close to what you found... that I have ever experienced. It was not all in one big patch like that, but there were several nice patches like that with big old mature 3's and 4's. It was obvious that no one had been digging in that hollow in a LONG time, perhaps not ever.

That is one thing that has us addicted to this fine sport... you never know what might be just around the hillside.
