TOPIC: Planting different species together

Planting different species together 8 years 9 months ago #35984

Hello,

I'm currently planning on putting up a bed for my ginseng, bloodroot and also yellowroot (goldenseal). I was wondering if there was any other species that might be beneficial to have in this bed such as black cohosh or trillium and so forth. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Thanks - Andrew

It depends on your site...
If you get a little too much sunlight in the are then black cohosh will provide some extra shade for young ginseng plants...
I wouldn't crowd too much in a bed though

I've transplanted larger ginseng roots into beds of goldenseal with good success. Ive also planted ginseng with black and blue cohosh and maidenhair ferns
