I've got an apple orchard and use a repelent which are sprayed on leaves making them gritty to deer and they will not eat the leaves but I think it would be too heavy to put on sang leaves. I work with the Universtiy of Vt and there is nothing but fencing that works otherwise.
Nicksmom, sorry but the peeing thing is an old wives tail. I am an avid deer hunter and human pee does nothing but make them curious. We use it at deer scrapes durring the fall and they do not shy away. Here's a pic of a deer at a scrape I peed in. He is rubbing his preorbital gland on an overhead licking branch above the scrape.
