Should I dry this root and sell it with the rest or should I sell it separately? I've read that \"man roots\" are more valuable. Is this actually true? Would a dealer actually pay more for this individual root?

A dealer might not, but the chinese will for sure. Your root looks like a man sliding down a hill or maybe a man jumping while running. Probably worth a lot of money to the right person.

They actually arent all that uncommon. I have handled quite a few already this year. As a dealer I really dont offer higher prices because it is shaped like a man, but I do offer higher prices for larger older roots. There probably is a limited market for those though....:)

Mississippi,

I know that from an earlier post, you have to get your' Ginseng roots certified by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture (then certified in Alabama) before it is sold to a Ginseng Dealer in Alabama. Does this certification in Mississippi allow you to sell your' certified Ginseng via eBay or are you obligated by regulation or Law to sell to a Ginseng Dealer in Alabama? I think that if I were you, I would ask this question! If once certified and if you are allowed to sell it to anyone, dealer or not, then I would keep it fresh and sell it on eBay. I would hope that this would be the case since making a deal with your Ginseng Dealer in Alabama to sell the root for you on eBay is probably out of the question since I assume that he or she is a good distance away from your location. Also, you are also left up to the good graces and honesty of the Ginseng Dealer in Alabama unless you have a signed contract. While a dried Ginseng Man Root can command fairly high prices, green ones are more sought after and will fetch much higher prices if sold that way on eBay.

By the way, congrats on scoring a nice Ginseng Man Root! In my opinion, the root looks like Popeye in a laid back lounging position for a modeling photo opt shoot!

Nice root Mississippi. I've yet to find a man root that big. I'm glad you're still digging it down there. The plants up here in my neck of the woods are starting to look pretty shabby. Last year I was digging into November but I don't see it lasting that long this year. Anyway, I don't think I'll be making it up to Rosine this year unless I go on a bow hunting trip up to my uncle's place but regardless, I hope you all have a good time.
