TOPIC: Why is senging so Addicting to you?

Thought this would be a good topic to introduce myself on...

Probably since I was old enough to grab a tree by the trunk and pull myself up out of a deep creek bed, which was probably round 10 yrs old or so, I've had a fever for digging seng. I enjoy the excitement and suspense of wondering whats up under that ole tree lap, but I think for me...the most enjoyment.. is the space it offers me to be away from the fast paced world in which we live and to relax in the astonishing creation that our God has so graciously created for us..

I'm close to central Ky. and have some amazing hollers round these parts. I take pride in doing my best in conserving seng for our future generations. Yours and mine sons,daughters,nieces,and nephews..

Welcome Kydidggin! I quite simple love being out in the solitude. No nothing but me and some real big woods. I also like the treasure hunt aspect.

It is amazing to me how many of us there are out there that enjoy the woods. We are anywhere from age 10 to 90 give or take a few years.We may be close or often hundreds upon hundreds of miles apart from one another. But when we are in the woods even when we are alone, we all feel like we are part of something and respect and admire what mother nature has to offer. It is a spiritual event to be one with nature while hunting ginseng in the forest.

I think for me it comes down to the surprise factor. The surprise of finding a nice patch in a new woods, the surprise of how old a plant is when you dig it, the surprise of seeing little baby seng growing where you planted the berries the last time you dug in the area, the surprise of a big old plant being right smack in the middle of an area that you have been visiting for a couple of decades, and you've never seen it before.

I love the solitude of being alone in Gods great creation, as well as enjoying the company of another digger at times. Just enjoying nature is part of the enjoyment of senging for me, but I think that the SURPRISE is whats got me hooked.

I was born an addict.....Ginseng diggin' goes from the top of my family tree to its deepest roots.

Been diggin' seng since I was old enough to hold my own on a days hunt. Can't seem to get enough to fill my desire.

Not much I like better than being in middle of the woods looking for seng.

I guess it boils down to the old saying \"Its the simply things in life\" that I find the most enjoyable/addicting.
