TOPIC: One from today

One from today 13 years 5 months ago #13314

I went with my wife and grandson today to a spot down the hollow from where she was raised. Her uncle lived there and was an avid ginseng hunter... he passed away nearly 15 yrs ago and I've got a feeling there is a large patch of seng somewhere in that hollow....
its a beautiful hollow but dang its steep in there!
I dug a few plants and left a lot of little ones.. didnt find any patches but its was a lot of territory to cover.

Here is a pic of a nice 3 prong, Theres more where he came from!

Another pic of the root. Best I could tell it had 18 scars on its neck.

Thanks Latt, that hollow is about 5 miles long and a lot of side hollows in there... it will take me 5 years to check it all out. :)
I've been in there many, many times but never looking for ginseng.

the root in the pic weighed just a fuzz under an ounce.. still nice for this area.
