TOPIC: Wild Roots selling on ebay-Again!

Wild Roots selling on ebay-Again! 13 years 6 months ago #11807

No eBay APP ID défined in Kunena configurationNoticed that the wild roots are hitting the ebay market again. Just like last year, some of the prices seem high.

Here's a closed auction for 11 oz of Fresh PA roots, $229. Also noticed some selling from TN.

Last year I saw prices get close to $1000 per pound of dried roots.

classicfur,

I've seen it sell on ebay but always wondered if that was legal.

Does anyone know how this is done? It would be pretty hard to get ounces certified, especially if you had several .lbs to break down into ounces.

Rootman,

I looked in to that last year.

To legally sell on Ebay (if you live in TN) you would have to pay 250.00 for a dealers license (only a registered dealer can sell out of State). You would also have to have your seng certified. That does not cost anything and one of State Park Rangers can do that.

TNhunter,
Whatever amount you sell on ebay would have to have the papers too, right? even though it is only \"say 5 ounces\" You would need a certificate for the 5 ounces. Is this correct? You can't certify 5 lbs. and break it up can you?

Rootman,

Not sure about that but you could call one of the rangers offices and I am sure they could answer that for you. I did not think to ask that last year when I talked to them.

It would be nice if you could get a whole lot (say a pound) certified and then break that up into smaller batches to sell if you wanted. Perhaps the certification papers you got with the \"lot\" could be copied and given out with the smaller batches. Not sure - better check on that to find out.

I think if a man was going to sell on ebay his best bet would be to do something like this.

Each time you go hunting, look thru the roots you collected and find some with nice age (long curls) and shape and have yourself a bed prepaired where you can plant those roots and keep them fresh (and protected) for months.

Then wait until ebay is sold out of wild fresh roots (Late November or December) and then you would have some nice fresh roots to offer and hopefully get a premium price.

If you put some nice roots up on ebay now or for the next couple months you are going to have some competition out there and well the higher the supply the lower the price.

If you wait until no one else has fresh wild roots to list yours - well you should have a much better chance of getting the best price.

Good Luck !

Thanks TNhunter,

I'd say your right about putting them back for later.

Since I'm in KY., I'd need to talk to Anna Lucio ,just to see for sure.

But thanks again TN.

I have noticed that fresh roots sell for a really good price on eBay. I've been thinking of looking into selling roots like this. But legally. I've seen fresh roots selling on here over the summer more than s month out of season here in pa. Unfortunately I think this is a good way for poachers to sell roots.

TNhunter
How many months you think a root would stay fresh by putting it in a prepared bed promptly.
thanks travis
