TOPIC: careful digging worth the time/effort

careful digging worth the time/effort 12 years 8 months ago #11780

Hey wonderful hunters, I have been buying individual nice roots for personal/business use. In my experience, I feel careful digging will repay you for your time/effort. Dealers might not care some broken branches, but for someone buying individual roots from $15-$150 each, he might want to see complete age neck, as much hair as possible, especially the longest/deepest fiber, and all-together small bulbs, etc.

Take care out there...

I understand what you are saying but when you're deep in the mountains time is a factor also.

When you've dug a lot of seng over the decades you really get a feel for it,

If I dig a lb I probably won't hurt a root or two out of 300.

Most of the time most breakage comes from drying and handling.
