TOPIC: Seeds arrived today - Pics showing embryo - looking good.

Seeds arrived today - Pics showing embryo - looking good. 12 years 6 days ago #21509

Hey Folks...

I ordered some seed on Monday and they arried this morning.

After work today I got to check them out, did a float test and that looked good. After 10 minutes only 48 floaters out of a pound of seed.

Here is a pic of the wad of seeds and as you can see - many are smiling.

I picked out a few and sliced them in two with a razor blade to check out the embryo development.

Managed to get a decent pic showing that.

Looks good to me. Even better (larger embryo) than the batch I got last year from the same supplier.

I have the entire week off next week and going to spend about 1/3 of it planting some wild-sim, about 1/3 deer hunting with my boy, and about 1/3 of it eating some Thanksgiving Dinner :-)

Hope you all have a good one !

Nice, I'm going to try and plant 3 pounds this weekend. I just hope I have enough time.

TN - The seed looks pretty good to me. I just sent you an email, but then remembered that you really don't use that account. If you get a chance, could you send me an email? I've got a question for you that I probably shouldn't post on here.

5Prong..

You are right that the email I have associated with my wildgrown profile - I don't check that very often at all. Usually just a few times a year.

But if you will mention here that you emailed me using that email, I will go and check it and reply to you there.

I did that and answered your question.

Thanks

I spent a few hours in the woods this morning (absolutely bueatiful morning)... and planted about half a pound of seed.

I found a little spot up near the head of a hollow here on my place this summer where there was a nice patch of maidenhair fern and I marked it for planting and got that done today. I like planting along old logs... just seems like a natural place for seng.

I did mostly rake and scatter, but also used my sharp shooter shovel planter a bit too to get some into tighter spots too.

Here is what the first bed looked like after raking it good.

And another one in that same area...

It felt good go get out there and work that rake some and drop seeds.

I am going to hit it again tomorrow moring and plant some more just down the hollow from these beds.
