Yesterday got the rest of the Patch Two done. all in all there's 8 pounds planted there. A big thanks for my seed suppliers [you know who you are!!] for meeting my shipment schedules.

This patch was steeper than patch one. Kinda a challenge to rake, and generally clamber about on it. Photos coming later today.

Got done and thought to myself... \"how many people can say that they've done this? Rake a acre of mountainside -x3- \"... Then thought \" how many people would ever want to?\" LOL.

Gotta be a bit looney to be a sang guy/gal, I guess....

Planting seeds near the top of patch two. It's hard to brodcast seed by hand and not put too much down in places. I know that I put several places that 'way too much seed. I'll reserve those places to transplant from in their 2nd year.

Raking another traverse across patch two. We have 17 traverses in this patch, mostly of uniform beds [5' x +/-40']. this approach is more organized than outr patch one. Well, that patch was done w/o a whole group of organization... I was mostly concerned about getting the rhodo cut down, and planting done, and soil analysis. Rather than plant predation controll and other stuff.

If you look behind me, you can see the wall of cut rhodo that lines the entire patch. We are using these byproducts to contain the plant predators - deer! there are only three entrances into patch two, and we have plans to do something about those as well. The wall of cut rhodo will serve nicely to keep the deer out.

This is a panorama shot of looking down from the the top of patch two. Sorta gives a different perspective to the patch. By our calculations, we have just over an acre cleared here.

Whitjr.
It looks like you have put in a tremendous amount of work and I hope that it pays off for you. I don't see those large rows of rhodo brush piles in the wide view so I don't know if you've removed some of them or not. If you plan to leave them in for a long time I can tell you that you need to really make some serious plans for rodent control. They will be an attractant for every mice, vole, chipmunk, and any other seed eating, tender root eating varmit in the country. Good luck. and keep us up to date with the hard work.

Hugh
