First off, welcome to the Wildgrown Forums! We hope you will stay with us and share any Ginseng hunting, digging, growing and stewarding stories, experiences and knowledge! IMHO, it is best to plant the berry with the seed inside and intact! The berry pulp not only contains moisture to keep the seed's embryo from drying out too much and dying, it also contains many nutrients that the embryo needs for it's emergence and health. Removing the pulp and storage or stratification, is mainly done by Ginseng Growers who harvest and sell seeds commercially as well as for their' plantings of additional crops. Understand that once you plant the berry, the seed will remain dormant for 18 months before germinating and a plant emerges.
