TOPIC: Here comes the yearly seng death storm

Here comes the yearly seng death storm 12 years 6 months ago #19970

Totally bummed. WNC is about to be slammed with high winds and 4-5 inches of rain in 24 hours. Happens every year. Even sadder, a buddy and I have been in the same huge area and dig 3/4 to a pound in a couple of hours every time we go into a different spot. It's crazy and tons more land to go. I'm hoping we don't get absolutely hammered.

On the bright side though, there's barely any yellow yet where we are unless you are way up, and the stalks are nice and healthy. Hopefully it'll hold up.

Wish the plant were healthy over here in VT all of ours are dying a month early. Still had a decent year though.

Yeah, when I lived in Elkins, West Virginia, I used to hate those early frosts or snows that pretty much ended the seng season! With work on those days, it was hard to enough to find time to get out much. When I did and finally started finding some great seng, then a strong cold front would blow through and dump an early snow or the clear skies and colder air behind the front would bring several nights of killing frosts. It wouldn't be long then until the cold set in and most if not all of the seng died off. Bummer!!!!
