This was a great find as I have always loved o find old wild ginseng this was a patch of old roots and the youngest was 40+ years old and the oldest was 60+ years old by far the best patch of old ginseng that i ever found. If i remember correctly there was 7 of these plants. What amazed me was that there was not one of this group of roots that was large in size the heavest root was 1/2 ounce, neat.

Of course I can not leave the rarest of all the roots that I have ever found out of this.In all the years of digging and handling ginseng this is the only true Emperors root that I have ever found. The man in the picture is Mr: Lee and is the man who made the video of the heritage of wild ginseng for Korea. This is the day that I had the root certified with Kyjabber it was very fun that day.

The widest root that I have ever saw and chunky as well This root was astonishing to look at being approximatly 22 inches wide and had very good gerth this root and another one that grew right beside that was near as big went to a Dr who is studying the healing effects of wild ginseng after surgery.

Billy,
All of those roots are amazing and thanks for showing them. They are just in a class by themselves. You may have posted this before, but it makes a fellow wonder just what the soil tests at in the country where you find all of these great roots.

Billy,
Those are some roots. I have never found any that large, but I am still hoping to find at least one someday. What a thrill it must have been when digging these and seeing that the root was special.

This weekend I traveled through the mountains of WV, PA and Maryland while driving to our annual family reunion in Oakland Maryland. So many remote mountain tops in view close by and in the distance that I couldn't help but think about ginseng. I really hope there are roots like the ones you posted still hiding on one of those mountain-tops or hidden valleys.
Good luck everyone.

Hugh and Latt thanks guys

The 6 ounce root in the first photo a buddy of mine named Tim found that one

And the root that is realy wide a friend of mine named David found that one

Some of the photos that I share with you all are of roots that are from my immedate area and that friends have dug.

I do find alot of wonderful roots my self also but I have never dug one that was over 4 1/2 ounces even though I find alot of very old roots and big roots it seems that the 5 ounce+ roots have aluded me for many years.

You never no when you are going to walk upon a 6+ ounce root but i like finding the realy rare old roots just as much and the odd tops.

G/L this season guys.

Billy.

That first one you posted is awesome Billy!

This one reminds me of that last one you posted and is one of my favorites....I think it was around 4.2oz.
