TOPIC: Can anyone identify this plant?

Re:Can anyone identify this plant? 10 years 6 months ago #25386

It is downy rattlesnake plantain, in the same family as the weeds that grow in your yard with the exception that it is the only plantain that is considered an orchid. Makes a great house plant I dug one for my wife and she potted it. She has had it for a while and it is doing great. They multiply and flourish in pots.

thanks for the info I brought my mom a jack in the pulpit bulb and planted some of the seeds around her flower bed, the info I got on it said the seeds want grow for a couple years, that's why I dug the bulb. I'll get her some of the rattlesnake plantain next time I'm in the woods. come to think of it I took a few cohosh and planted it and they never growed.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Im gonna pot two of them, 1 for the wife and 1 for mom. I dig wild crocus for my mom because they are one of her favorites. I think she would really like rattlesnake plantain as well.
