Generally speeking wild roots from the South Western Counties including the Smoky Mountain region will run a bit higher in value overall than the Northern and Blue Ridge Mountain regions so the price should reflect these values also. Peidmont and Foothill roots should be a bit cheaper than Mountain roots also.
I sold to carolina wholesale bait Tuesday. She quoted me $750 on the phone, and wouldn't move up for better quality root. When I got there, and she looked at what I had she offered $760/lb. Great people to deal with. She said she thought the peak would be $780 here maybe slightly higher. She also said that a drop after Thanksgiving is not what she heard although it may be true in other states. Oh and for so many who wonder why NC root fetches more than KY and TN is because NC root is considered to be more wild and not hybrids of wild/cultivated root.
