So I was out last week looking at my seng and seal and saw the berries on the seal were still green but full size. Went back out yesterday and not a berry to be found anywhere. Did something eat these green or could they have ripened and got eaten by critters in that short of a period of time? I am in Southeastern Ohio. Has anyone else in this region gotten ripe seal berries yet?
Yep, deer will eat them clean off. They only eat the ripe ones. So you only have a few days to harvest the red seal berries before the deer get to them. So I am guessing the berries did get ripe recently. I just had hip replacement surgery and have not been in the woods to check. But it's getting close to that time and your story sure makes me think it it time to go pic some red seal berries.
