TOPIC: plant Id needed...

anyone know what kind of plant this is.. i was digging a 4 prong and a root came up next to it, at first i thought it was just a ginseng plant that didn't come up until i looked closer at it.. i have a picture of the root that was attached to it.. i will upload it also

It looks like a small poke weed. I could be wrong. It's hard to tell from the pics. The leaves are usually more pointed with poke weed but that could be because this would be a young one.

Here's a pic of a poke weed root I found online. The stem from poke weed will turn redish purple. When it gets bigger

that could be it.. root looks about the same. trip'd me out when it came up next to a ginseng plant.. thought it was another root.. then i looked at it pretty close.. was like hrmm.. dunno what this stuff is lol

I think i'll agree with pa. I think it's poke
Sometimes you can find some good ginseng around poke if you look for it.

Saw alot of poke. Pick several messes every spring for salad. That doesn't look like it to me. That looks more like a tree sapling of some sort. Notice the woody stem? And green new growth like a tree does when its putting out. JMO
